Happy Fourth of July. May God bless our America ,grant good will to all who call her home as well as the strength and courage to battle her enemies.

As we all know, times are tough. Many Americans have lost homes, jobs and even loved ones fighting across the globe. Through these times may be difficult for us as individuals; each of us needs to put our personal issues aside and pray this
4th of July for this, our great nation. American is in trouble. We may be the greatest super power on earth, but as of late, we seem to be a nation whose integrity,ethics and even claim as the last beacon of democracy is being questioned not only around the world, but from within our borders.

Today, on our nation's birthday, I invite each of us to think about just how fortunate we are to be part of this great nation but to also take up my challenge to restore the values that made America great. EACH AND EVERYONE OF US MAKES AND CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

It is our obligation to stand up to those who seek to destroy our nation, those whose lack of ethics,good morals and unholy ambitions have eroded the very fiber of what makes America the greatest nation on earth. America is much more than a nation, she is a symbol of greatness, of hope , of dreams. There is no place like America. Her constitution , which granted us liberty, also charged each of us with the responsibility of safeguarding the very liberties we hold as God given- life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Having pride in our nation and waving flags on the 4th of July is not enough. Now more than ever, EACH OF US- not just a select few must show America what we can do for her, in her hour of need. Whether democrat or republication, whether citizen or immigrant, whether adult or child and reguardless of race or creed WE MUST LET THE WORLD KNOW THAT AS A NATION, WE WILL STAND STRONG AND UNITED. We WILL NOT FAULTER IN OUR CHARGE TO PERSERVE AMERICA"S GREATNESS NOR WILL WE ABANDON HER IN HER HOUR OF NEED.

As Americans we face our greatest challenge in a world filled with uncertainty. Do not abandon or think ill of our great nation when she needs you most. Within each of us are the seeds of what made America the unique country it is and defined us as a people great.

Take up my challenge- show the world, your friends , neighbors and co-workers that each American through our individual thoughts,words and deeds embody and honors the great spirit of democracy.

Harlan Powers believes as did her father before her that America is and will always be the greatest nation the world has ever known. And like my father, I believe I can make a difference and invite you to join me in this magnificent enterprise.
