Presidente Fox is calling for open borders with the United States. And President Bush is stepping right into a highly charged mine-field by even talking about "Amnesty" for Lawbreakers......
We're in the middle of a war with pieces of crap terrorists, and now we have our own Politicans discussing how better to allow it.
Both Republicans and Democrats seem to be in a war to garner votes, and leave America wide open to destruction.
Any thoughts folks?

I've been looking for some more details on the bush-border proposal, albeit not very hard - I've been busy. I have to say it's raising red flags, but do you have any details on it?

He's calling for a general amnesty again,,,,for all the illegals now in our Country. Granted I'm not familiar with all the suttle under-currents a Head-of-State deals with....... but if I break our Laws.....
My lower-posterior is in trouble. Why isn't those that break the Law held accountable if they invade our Country?

Hey Seek,
My understanding is that W is NOT promoting AMNESTY !!!
W is promoting 2 or 3 years of temporary reprieve from prosecution of illegals, who are already in USA and holding a job.
He wants to make it clear that they MUST do 1 or 2 things ... or go to prison !!!
1.Get legal.
2.Get yourself back to where you came from.
We, a wealthy nation, can NOT build walls strong and high enough, to keep out beggars and thieves.
What better way to protect ourselves, than to make good friends with our neighbors? ... then our enemies would have to go through our neighbor, to get to us.

why is everyone deeming all foreigners "terrorists" now? what about all the people from mexico who are sneaking here just to work for a little money to send home to their families? to me, i don't think they would be sneaking here if we quit calling ourselves the superior country and helped them out a little, instead of spending all of our money on stupid wars.

The argument is simple. If you give legal status to those who have entered the country illegally, you legitimize their illegal act and encourage more law-breaking.
There is a problem with the argument: it's crap. It puts both sides in a trapped situation from which no improvement can be gained. Illegal transits go up since once illegal, always illegal, so why bother trying to be legal? Higher illegal transit rates cause the government to have less control over the border, while tighter security measures force illegal transits to more dangerous routes. Contrary to what some might think this does not deter transit, but does further stretch border patrol resources.
If I was to lose my drivers license for life for speeding, it wouldn't stop me from driving. It would mean that I would be uninsured and probably drive a junker since I couldn't register my vehicle and might have it impounded often. I would probably have to pay fines and do jail time maybe. One might say I deserve it all because of my law violation, but more important than that I will be causing a danger to other people by driving uninsured and in a wreck of a car.
On the other hand, if I pay my dues, but regain the ability to drive legally, I have to pay a penalty for my initial crime, but it isn't compounded into a state that not only causes my life to burdened but also endangers others.
On the border, we have to have some moderation. By extending legal options to those who do not come here to commit crimes, but to work to help this country (which is the vast majority of illegal migration), we really are helping ourselves most of all.
For those who come an commit major crimes or have evil conspiracies, sure, more stern measures are only appropriate, but for the vast majority who's only crime was crossing the border, it is not appropriate to be so draconian.
Offering the opportunity for those who may have been illegal at one point to become legal encourages legal migration and border transit, not the opposite. It rewards those who do their best to work within the law when it available to be worked within.

I am really going out on a limb here about Kerry's "Global Test" remark...but, when it comes to our national security... we cannot care what other countries think. It seems that the whole world turns to us for military protection, monetary aid, and food and medicine. Many of them don't seem very grateful these days. France, for example, would be speaking German today if we hadn't helped them against Hitler. Countries all over the world have benefited from our military protection, our humanitarian spirit, and our medical advancements. If at this time those same countries don't believe we have the right to protect our citizens against terrorism...I just don't think we can afford to care.
I am starting to believe maybe our borders should be closed, more effort should be made to alleviate the burden of illegal aliens, trade should be on an equal basis, and we should adopt a more isolationist attitude for our protection. Money sent to those who don't support us should be withdrawn and used to feed, insure and educate those here at home. I understand Germany is crying because we are withdrawing troops that have been based there since WWII. It is time for us to re-evaluate who are our allies and who are not!

Let's not forget our history here! If it hadn't been for France waaaaaaay back in the day then America would've lost the War of Independence against the British (remember when they were an ENEMY?)
Think I'm wrong? Have a look outside and tell me what side of the street you drive on.
I agree, many countries don't seem very grateful today!

Be no longer fooled my fellow Americans, we the voting public only are small participants in our political and economic future. Corporate America runs BOTH political parties regardless what you hear anywhere, ABC, CBS, FOX, CNN etc.
Thier is a strong grass roots effort to stop the open border policy that both parties are in favor. Politicians MUST pander to those who provide the MONEY to fund thier 100+ million campaigns. Corporate America wants illegals here because they are more proftiable then americans. Notice alot of workers at fast food joints are no longer the high school kids but 20+ and middle aged Illegals? America is changing and its not a change the average american wants in any way but its being forced on us. Time to push back corporate america to it's rightfull role, providing jobs for Americans and thier families and stop dictating border policy via politcian they OWN thru muit-millions contributions.
