Did you know this about Target stores?

Vietnam Veterans Association - By Dick Forrey

We asked our local Target store to be a sponsor of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall during our spring recognition event. We received back a reply from Target management that "veterans do not meet our area of giving. We only donate to the areas of the arts, social actions, gay and lesbian causes, and education."

My thought: If the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, and veterans in general, do not meet their donation criteria, something is wrong at Target. We were not asking for thousands of dollars, not even hundreds, but simply sponsorship of an endorsement for a memorial remembrance. As a follow-up, I E-mailed the corporate headquarters and their response was the same. Personally, I will NOT be purchasing anything at Target Stores again. If the Vietnam Veteran or Veterans in general do not meet their area of giving, then why should I, as a Vietnam veteran, spend my hard earned money in their stores?

TARGET IS FRENCH OWNED! WHAT A SURPRISE!

Target will also not allow the Marines to collect for "Toys For Tots" during the holidays...................

Please pass this on to as many people as you know! ! !

I retreived this link concerning the matter. I hate to see Target get a bad rap, and those spreading the rumor are going to look foolish for buying into it before checking it out for themselves.

With that said, Target does a lot for the people of our community and it is worth knowing what your major corporations are actually contributing around you - so ask. ;) The article above explains their policy and generous giving to veterans.

Years back we were holding a veteran function and I went to Target to see if they would donate drawing prizes. I don't think they did, but it had to do with the method they do donate to veteran causes. Once a month they have a disabled day, where the disabled can come in and shop from 8-12, something like that.

What pisses me about Target (and other stores) is they continue to sell Jane Fonda work-out tapes, etc. You can do all veterans a favor by picking up one or two of these tapes and leaving them in a different area of the store, under a pile of shirts or something. :D Same for the library. a relocated Fonda book may not show up for years. hee hee.

Target is FRENCH-OWNED??? I can't believe it!

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to remove it from my list of 'Personal Continuing Boycotts'. Unfortunately, such American chains as Walmart, Starbucks, Burger King, Wendys, Sears, GAP, Old Navy, Pier 1 Imports, any American beer (which comes out of the taps here anyways), Arbys, Ford, McDonalds, James Dean, Radio Shack, Dell, Microsoft (as much as possible), General Motors, and virtually everything that comes as 'Made in America'.

Target, I am truely sorry for the unecessary boycott. I should have done more research.

I know, it was tough at first! But, and I'm sure you can relate, I'd like my money to stay in my country instead of shipping it to another country!
